Anyone ever had their feed screw turn on its own? Last two mornings have had the temp in house lower than what the thermostat is set at and is calling for heat. Go down into the coal stove and find it warm and pusher plate moving but very slowly and find that the feed screw is backed all the way out so its feeding very little. Has anyone put a little loctite on theirs to stop it from moving when its not supposed to. I know the better question is why is it turning by its self.

Mine has never moved... A light coating of grease might work. I don't think I'd use loctite on mine.

Why would you put grease on something you DON'T want to move? Am I missing something?

I was thinking it just needed to create a little drag. Grease would do that. It needs to stay adjustable so for me, loctite would not be an option.

I'm not familiar with the mechanism, I would think an adjustment screw would be of a locking type of thing. If the screw is moving, what could cause that?

Not sure why it would back out like that... Mine has almost 6 years of nonstop use and has stayed exactly where it's been set. OP might want to give keystoker a call. Surely they would have heard if this is common.

I think I'd try adding a little weight on the end using something like this before using loctite

I think is a vibration issue but not sure. I was thinking loctite the light duty or medium. Nepacoal I have some of those paper clip and will give it a shot. I usually don’t have to mess with the feed screw once I fire up the stove. I had I hopper fire at the beginning of the season and ran a tap and die over the rod and through the bar (but didn’t go any bigger just cleaned them up). This morning I found some fines on the edge of the pusher plate near the outside. Don’t know if that is causing a restriction and vibration and the screw is backing off. When I shut down for a cleaning will have to check the gasket that is not supposed to let fines pull back with the pusher plate.

Had this happen to our K90 - it backed all the way out. Lucky to have Keystoker in the area. First service call didn't solve it and it backed out again. Keystoker finally solved it by replacing the whole pusher plate.
