Hi Everyone,
I'm in the process of semi restoring our stove and came across something I find perplexing. The carriage bolts that hold the door hinge supports to the stove are 10/24 x 1" but the square cut outs in the stove are just under 1/4" so the carriage bolts just spin around (they were very hard to remove). I tried some 1/4"-20 carriage bolts but they are slightly too large for the cut outs in the stove. Any idea why Alaska would make the cut outs larger than the bolts? I'm guessing I should stick with the original 10/24's but I probably wont be able to make them that snug and it will be a nightmare if they ever need to be removed in the future. Thoughts?

I managed to find a pack of 100 M6's at Grainger (wish they had them in 316, they were A2) but they fit with a little bit of wiggling. I just painted them. On Thursday I'm going to reassemble the stove, fingers crossed I haven't forgotten any parts that I need. I'll probably make a before and after thread to see what people think. Also, to double check that I haven't made any goofs with reassembly.
