Brand new to the Forum and heating with coal. The house I just purchased in Va came with a coal fired furnace. There is very little identifying information on it. I have searched the internet and turned up nothing. The door on the furnace has the name Armstrong Furnace Co. and a unit number 1001F-C5-22. It also has a green coal hopper bearing the name Worley Equipment company. If anyone knows anything about it or where I can find information I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

What you have there is a old hand fed solid fuel furnace that had been converted to be fired by a soft coal self feeding coal stoker.
With properly sized soft coal of decent quality could work quite well for you.
