My boyfriend and I bought a used harman magnum stoker and we can’t get the darn thing lit. We have been trying for 2 days and have tried everything online and that we could think of. What is the trick?

Has it been cleaned and checked out since last last time it was used ? are all functions operating like they should? lots more questions before any one can diagnose your problem. Plus where are you located sometimes a member may be close by and be a very good help.homesick742 wrote: ↑Mon. Yes we cleaned it and all seems to be working as should. Coal is stoking, blowers all work. We can get it to light and get hot but then it goes out as soon as the blower turns off. It’s like we need the blower to constantly run for awhile to be sure the coal is lit properly. I am NE Ohio

That is true, you have to run the combustion fan till you get a full bed of coals so it will stay lite on its off cycle. you should have a bed of hot coals on the grates to almost a 1/2 inch from the end when on a full run calling for heat. How are your timers set on the stoker control?----How is your feed rod adjusted?----- How much is your restrictor plate set on your combustion fan?---Are you using a barometric damper?---What is your draft set at?--- Are you using a thermostat?--- and finally what type of chimney are you using, there are a lot of things that can come into play when trouble shooting.homesick742 wrote: ↑Mon. There are adjustments for hold fire mode...until you figure that out it is impossible to keep the fire lit.

I know with my Super Magnum if the room is warm were the temp probe is and the stove temp is set for about the same it will give an issue with lighting. So when my room is warm I put a bag of crushed ice over the temp probe and away the Mag goes. Once it seems to of caught good I remove the bag of ice of course then it will go on no matter what the temps are outside or inside.
