Hot Air Coal Stoker Stove: Alaska stoked stove II

Post by Allenohara » Mon. Jan. 04, 2021 5:09 pm

So I have an older alaska stoker stove II and I bought it used 5 years ago. it’s been running like a champ until recently. I noticed it wasn’t running right and realized the feeder motor/ fan motor had loosened some of the bolts on it. So I tightened them and started the stove back up only to have it stop burning. I drilled out all the holes in the grate, cleaned the ash out from under the plate, cleaned out the whole inside, replaced some of the gaskets, tightened down all nuts and bolts and still can’t get it to stay lit. I use a road flare to start it and get it going good but after about 40 minutes it seems to be done burning.
It is feeding coal and there is air coming up through the grate. I’m at a loss for where to go from here. It seems that the coal is vibrating off the feed ramp which I haven’t been able to stop the vibrations but any suggestions would be great!

Gearbox or motor’s sintered bushings are shot!

Bench test it with a grounded electrical test cord.
