What would cause the stove to not stop running?
The heat is turned down on both thermostats, the timer is running like it's supposed to be off on the box, but the stove runs continuously.

Failed timer or stuck relay is most likely. Should be easy to tell with a multimeter.

I had a thermostat go bad and it ran continuously... Can just disconnect thermostat wires at either end to test.

one possibility...If Timer failed in the "run cycle" nudge rotating tripper plate manually will let aquastat then regain control again..
Timer will need repaired/replaced to run in mild weather w/o having a "out-fire".

The boiler doesn't run off the thermostat. It's runs off of the water temperature in the vessel. If it is running beyond the high setpoint it most likely is the timer or the aquastat high limit switch is bad.

It is a steam boiler. It will run indefinitely if the thermostat calls for heat and the pressurtrol doesn't trip.
