Hello,
I'm trying to replace the feed motor on my Harman magnum electric stoker and I've hit a roadblock that I need some help with. I was able to get the bolts off after a soak in Sili Kroil, but I can't get the gear off of the motor. I can't get the motor out of the housing until the gear is removed and the housing is welded into the stove. I found a gear puller in the toolbox but I can't get the gear at the right angle to get the puller over the center of the shaft.
Can anyone recommend a different gear puller or a better way to do this?
This is the original motor and it's been in for 27 years (amazing motor life), so it's very stuck and I have no experience replacing it.
Thank you for any and all advice

Just a guess, but might there be a allen set screw that needs loosened where you're not looking???
HTH and good luck!

McG is on the right track. Its not an allen set screw but a bolt is used on it. Maybe somebody torqued too hard on your bolt and snapped it off. If that's the case you'll have to drill it out somehow to get it off. I will get a pic this evening.
I guess they changed over from welding the motor bracket to the stoker assembly at some point. The ones I have seen have bolts through the bottom of the motor bracket so you can get it out of the stoker assembly. Once it is out it makes it easier to get the motor off its bracket for replacement.
If you are still looking for one, this is a viable replacement motor...

I had removed the set bolt. I'll let it soak some more and see if heat helps

Thank you, I couldn't fit the gear puller in there. I just kept spraying it and tugging at it. My buddy was eventually able to twist it off. New motor is in and seems to be working.

Thank you guys for the advice. This forum has been invaluable to me over the last few years. I'll always reply with how things workout, you deserve the rest of the story even if it's not very exciting.

Well now that stove is working I have another issue... The stove is piped to recirculate water through the hot water heater and since it's been running I've been getting over 5 gallons of water coming out of the water heater temperature and preasure relief. I've also had to reset the hot water heater a few times.
I have no idea why it's doing this. Do I need a new T&P valve? Is there some hot water heater setting I should adjust while running the stove?
I do have the mixing valve bypassed because it's clogged and I get no hot water pressure when it's open (there are no children in house, so I'm not worried about the water scalding anyone), but that seems like it would be unrelated to this issue.

The hottest water coming from the stove is hitting the temp probe on the relief valve. Can you repipe to the hot outlet on the tank?

There aren't any other ports on the water heater. Maybe I could join it with the inlet on the top of the tank?
