Hot Air Coal Stoker Stove: Harman super magnum stoker

Post by zags5274 » Tue. Sep. 29, 2020 11:01 am

What size coal are people using in their Harman Super Magnum? In the last few years I used rice blaschak coal. Someone told me to try mixing a ton of rice blaschak coal with a ton of blaschak buckwheat coal, so I just brought home a load of the mixture. What is your thoughts about that?

I don't know why you'd want to mix those types. I've only used Rice and only had good luck thru many years of harsh crazy winters here in Northern N.H.

One tip with this stove which has been a perfect stove for keeping my home within a degree of set temp is to sift the coal so any lump's of any kind get sorted out. That was the only thing that effected the stove. A lump of bigger coal or two would stop the feeding or jam the pusher block. So I made a sifter and now sift into a large tote that is inside to dry any wetness and I can scoop up with a farm bucket to load the hopper.
