the Harmon fireplace insert is little more than a freestanding stove without legs and the chimney hole in the op of the stove instead of out the back!

So IF you can find one... HOWEVER, I do not believe they make a "Stoker version" of the stove as a fireplace insert, only the Hand Fired version!

I believe alaska makes a hearth model of their kast console that may work for you. My uncle has owned a kast console for about 20 years now. He likes it and has had no problems with it. I just started burning an alaska channing and it seems like they make a high quality product.

Hitzer 503 or 983. Depending on your wants and needs. Both terrific inserts. I’m 100% and then some satisfied with my 983.

The 983 is a Stoker version or no?

No Lee not a stoker. Bigger fire box and no hopper compared to the 503.

Todd, I realize this is a bit off subject, but how do you like your 55?

I ran a Hitzer 983 for about 5 years with good results "but" I feel a free standing stove heats much better even without a blower.
I did some mods to my stove so It would hold about 120lbs of nut so my burn time was awesome ( could get 24 to 48 hrs between reloads depending how hot I was running) the down side is without blowers the inserts don't give off much heat so you have a good amount of white noise, that was the reason I sold mine( I work in a loud shop so quite when I get home is mandatory for me :D ) and bought a baseheater which I love except the lack of the 2 day reloads due to the lower coal capacity :| .
If I was to buy another one I would go back to Hitzer, unbeatable customer service , built like a brick shithouse ,and very simple to run.
