Thinking of switching from wood to coal. I found this locally and not sure if I should jump on it and learn as I go? Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you!

If you are using wood now you know how much work it is and in cold weather that you must get home to feed it, with coal it’s a lot less work and the heat can’t be beat !! The 1st wood stove I had it was “0” outside and we had to open all the doors and windows cause it was 90 inside

once it died down it was cold again!!! Coal heat doesn’t do the severe up and down swings it’s nice and steady

Thanks, I've been reading the forum all morning, seems like a great place for advice. I'm in southwest Michigan. I live on 17 acres of very wooded property. However I'm already tired of dealing with wood.

Our Classic is "Sell Your Wood To Buy Coal" ! As You do Your Homework Here,(Use Our Ginormous Archive Of Subject Matter Library In The Top Right- The Search Area) You'll find that You can get a 8 to 10 hour even heat burn time between shaking and loading with nut-sized coal a manual hand fired stove-no electricity needed. On an electrically powered stoker(like the one in Your post) You can run continuously by loading the hopper with rice sized Coal and emptying your ash pan. Either one can give You consistent,even heat with time to sleep. Chimney Fires caused by Creosote don't happen with Anthracite Coal. Read On,Help Yourself Out,and We'll help You the rest of the way. Carbon Monoxide Alarm Monitors are a way of Life here. Get a few,and that's for any Home,regardless of what You're using to heat it with!! Welcome,and Stick Around!

Anyone in Michigan have an idea where to get rice coal? In the Kalamazoo area?

Not in Michigan but you can call Lehigh and Blaschak and see if there are any Dealers in your area and do a search for dealers in this forum for your area
