Other Heating: Oil fired, forced hot air.

No! Hopper fed flat plate burner. Good for some. Better options out there.

A VF2500, that would be a smaller unit than a VF3000? Sorry if I'm a bit biased,but underfed stokers rock.they are fed with augers. They hold a fire a long time without power. You can build a bin that will hold a years supply of coal. Most are pretty user friendly. Some choices are Gentleman Janitor, Van Wert, and EFM of course.

I believe that's the AHS version of the old Harman VF3000. It's an OK boiler. I ran one for quite a few years. Then a bought a used EFM DF520. Night and day. If I were in the market to step up to a central heat boiler I'd highly recommend a used EFM DF520. Recovery capacity was the biggest issue with the VF3000. Now the EFM just chugs along and requires nothing but ash emptying. It's boring, reliable heat and hot water. I wish I had done it 20 years ago.
