I went to switch ash pans this morning and the empty one wouldn't slide in. When I looked there was a pile of unburned coal behind it. To be clear this didn't come off the end, it must be coming from the feed mechanism area. Any ideas what could be wrong? Is it possible the burn grate isn't seated back as far as it should be? I'm not sure how it could have moved though.

Thanks

There should be no gap where the 2 sides touch the back of the stove. Also there is a gasket that fits in there.
Is there any way it could have fell over the top?

Thanks for the reply. I let the stove shut down yesterday and sure enough there was a 3/8" gap between the burn grate and the back of the stove. It's been running since the beginning of November. I'm guessing I didn't get it seated properly and it took two months for it to vibrate down. Anyway all is good but I couldn't get the motor on the powervent to restart, even spinning it by hand, so fixed one problem and created another.

a little late to post, but the picture of the fire was a clue that there was a problem. the fire is burning up towards the hopper.

sucks about the powervent. try cleaning it and oiling it.

Yeah that's true about the fire burning back. Glad I got it corrected!

I did eventually get the power vent going. It was weird, it would just hum, even when I was spinning it by hand. I was trying to lube while spinning etc. After messing with it for about 30 min, it just started up. It is all back together and running now. Guess I should start shopping for a new motor.
