Bought a 90000 btu stove 5 years ago used for $450. Put into the basement of my 1700 sq ft house. Pretty undersized for the house. Last month I bought the Hitzer 710 used. Guy only burned 2 ton or so with it and I scored it for $2,700. Can’t wait to get it hooked up. So far got it in the basement with loader tractor, set into its place and starting sizing up flue pipe, duct work and where the new power vent will go. I’m kinda limited where the power vent will be placed. The best place I can put it has 3 1/2 coarse of black above grade, 28 inches. Layed out where bent will go keeping 12” above grade in mind. I’m coming up with 9 inches from floor joist. I’ve been doing some reading and option one is double or triple wall, but my 6” to 4” reducer is single wall, so that kinda throws a wrench in that thought. More reading I see ways to make 9” work with the single wall, and want everyone’s thoughts.
What if I did a layer (or 2) of concrete board (durorock) with a layer of sheet metal between concrete board and flue pipe, screwed to the ceiling with a 1” spacer between metal and board? I do consider myself handy, been doing construction for 19 years.

I'll say it first...
Build a block chimney if you can...
Power vents suck...
Lots of maintenance...

G, just 1 sheet of crete bd. with spacers will work safely & well on the ceiling. As for the other stuff--you're on your own!! LOL Not thrilled with ANY power-vent set-up!!

Ok sweet thanks a lot. I overkill everything I do, plus an assistant fire chief I’ll stick with the double layer with sheet metal spaced.

Waiting on 14 inch round duct order to come in. Got all electrical done last night. Wanted to fire up and do a small test run before it gets really cold. As I post I am re mounting my baro to check for draft

So playing with this coal trol a bit. The automatic setting seems to pump out just a little bit of heat on the blower fan. Manual, yes you can set what speed it is in manual, pumps out a ton. How does one go by setting the automatic setting higher? Am I missing something?

I guess what I’m asking is if I have it in manual does the blower fan keep running and automatic has ability to kick on and off when not calling for heat?
