Left to do:
1. Good cleaning
2. Attach rope to door
3. Seal the bottom door
4. Put up CO detectors
5. Program the thermostat
6. Start fire.

All the blowers work and the thing that pushes the coal works too.

I hired a guy to help with the install. He has one of those tools to measure the force of the draft. He'll come out sometime this month.

Today he just looked at the stove, gave me some pointers and figured out what tools he'll need for the final install.

The pipe is all connected. Kind of a pain to put it all together. The T from the big box store was smushed a bit so I had to straighten that out. Did some cutting. Painted one part b/c when I cut the pipe, it got scored up a bit. Will probably paint the entire length b/c the paint looks good and will cover the screws I used to hold the sections together.

Got a big plastic container to hold a few bags of coal next to the stove so the air will dry it out before loading it into the hopper. Also got a galvanized scoop to take the coal from the plastic container to the hooper.

The local coal stores were closed today so I couldn't pick up any type of magnesium fire starters so I picked up a gel at a box store.

About all I had time for today was cleaning out the air holes. Did this by using a small drill bit by hand. Also added two bags of rice coal to a plastic bin next to the stove.

Been cleaning.
Took my El cheapo shop vac and vacuumed out the hopper which had dog food in there. Also vacuumed out the fire box area.
Didn't realize the ash pan was in such bad shape. It had rust holes through it. Measured it to see if there's something cheap I can use in the old ash pan's place.
Cleaned the glass.
Installed new gasket to the door we with the window. Feels like a nice tight seal. Used a wire brush on a drill to get the old stuff off before putting the gasket material on.
Also vacuumed the floor around the stove and the walls.
Put up two CO detectors. One went in the living room about the height of my head when sitting down. The other went in my bedroom about head height while sleeping.

Tomorrow: I'll unbolt the blower fan and vacuum that out as good as I can. Hopefully I can mount the thermostat and fire her up.

My outdoor thermometer said 50 degrees this morning.

Might need some help on programming the coal-trol for the leisure line econo 1.

Any links out there for paper direction or links to videos?

Firing her up. This is slightly after the magnesium burned off. I think I have the settings for the coal troll TS2 set up correctly.

That fire needs to burn longer for anybody to say anything. But if you're happy we're happy too. :)
Please send a new picture when the fire has burned for near an hour straight, in order to mean anything to us. ;)

The fire after about an hour. Nice warm dry heat. Good blower without being annoying. Side temp of the stove measured about 500. The draft measured .022 to .023 most of the time. The auto damper needs to be changed out b/c the current one is way to stiff. The pipe could be touched by hand for the first hour and then it started to get to hot to the touch. Carbon monoxide level was 0 the entire time. My smoke detectors which work rather well, never went off. I'm a happy camper.

A pic from a little further back. Nice fire. Better overall than wood.

Positives for coal: nice coals, nice flame, long burn time, little that needs to be handled, nice heat!, cheaper for me, good control of the fire through use of coal trol.
Positives for wood: snap crackle pop, smell....love the smell of a wood fire.

I'll never go back to wood unless the price of coal goes through the roof. Too many good things about coal.

The most important part of the install. CO detector. This one mounted head height in living room. I have another one mounted about head height while laying down in the bedroom.

Ordered a new ash pan directly from LL. It should be here in a few days. I'll repair the old one to make it workable.
