My house. The old stove pipe for the soon to be gone wood stove is out front. Sorry for the distant pic. I've been moving as fast as molasses in January.
A pic of the inside. This is the old pipe about to be ripped out.

The used LL stove next to the old wood stove. I'll admit that I'll miss the smell of a wood fire. I won't miss all the work involved with wood especially with my injury (rotator cuff) to my left shoulder. Please excuse the mess as I've moved between houses a few times recently. I love my house. 960 square feet. 8 foot tall walls. Full unfinished basement with plenty of electrical outlets. The walls are thick with 2x6s. I have an oil furnace in the basement for my main heat but I'm really looking forward to burning coal.
In the outside pic, the spark arrestor at the top of the stack actually blew off recently due to high winds.

This is the spark arrestor from the old stack. It was blown clean off the stove pipe and was laying on the roof of my house.
Kind of big holes there for hot embers to flow through IMHO. Anyways, this one is being ditched.

Taking care of a sick one for the moment. Sorry for the slow pace. I promise the pace will pick up soon. Two more night shifts and I have a vacation coming. Pictures and questions to be coming soon.

A few questions as I'm getting ready to pull the wood stove out:
1. The walls of my house nearest to where I want the coal stove are painted sheet rock which I understand is combustible. How far away from the wall does the stove have to be?
If I were to cover up the sheet rock wall with something non-combustible what do most guys use that still looks good?
2. I have a stone base under the stove with cement between the stone. How far above the stone does the bottom of the coal stove have to be?
3. How far out in front of the stove should the stone base be? I hope not far.....not sure if I can buy new stone to match the old stone.
I own my house [mortgage paid off!] so I can modify it any way I want but I like the stone look. I'm also not a fashion designer so what I'd replace it with would likely look worse.

The old wood stove is heavy. I weigh 230 pounds (down from 250 recently) and the hand truck is a decent one. I had everything I could do to lift the wood stove out of the way. My guess is that it is 400 to 500 pounds. The LL econo 1 is no where near as heavy.

The used LL econo 1 in about the same place as the wood stove. I'LL put a measuring tape to it tomorrow. Right now the couch has drawn me to it.
I'LL stuff the old pipe with paper for now to keep the outside air outside.
