Hello all, Kris here. I have a question regarding stoker stoves. I put in a koker 160. This had a liner fall in and cause bad CO. I had a 6x25 liner installed. Solved the CO prob for a while. 3 days ago when it was 60 or so out our alarms went off again. I shut furnace down. Next day cleaned it really well. Fired it up the next cold night no issue. Could it be too warm for chimney to draft? I also have a baro damper above furnace. Any burning tips with this stove.

For starters, seal off the baro opening with some tinfoil. Warm weather gives chimney draft a real beating. Cracking a window in the room the appliance is in may help too. Why do you need the liner? Does the chimney have issues?

You may be running too much combustion air, which pressurizes the firebox and can cause fumes to escape. You need to get a draft gauge and check the over-fire draft.

also, how are you controlling it? Thermostat or Coaltrol? when it gets warmer, sometimes you have to run it a littler warmer to keep draft going on idle. Usually a good cleaning helps, also as they suggested, cover up the baro damper.

Coaledsweat, we had a tile in chimney delaminate and block chimney over 400ppm in my basement on gas monitor from work. We have a 6 mo old so i just decided to put a liner incase it happens again and to ease the wifes anxiety. Wny i have not tried a draft gauge yet. What type of wether should i try it in? I am also controlling heat with thermostat. The dealer i got it from really gave me nothing to go off of, so i had to figure this out on my own amd by reading

Mcgiever, i just used common sense. Clean out the entire fire box, the exhaust tubes, the bottom of air holes, the baro and the pipe from damper out to liner. I read alot about things and watch videos on how to do things if i dont

Yes sir, Now one thing i do not know is adjusting the convection blower. I know i need a draft gauge but is there a way to adjust the blower and watch flame. How high above fire should flame be while it is heating

Combustion blower...cannot do that by visual...you could add too much air, push fumes out cracks seam, hopper etc. and set off CO alarms again...we're talking hundredths of an inch water column negative pressure of draft here...get the gauge, Dwyer MK II 25 (Amazon $30.)
What *WNY* is saying is that with the manometer gauge it would show you decreased draft as outside temps warm up and when you see gauge decrease turn idle fire up by adding time onto timer to keep chimney warmer than what was working when it was colder outside.

Alot of great info here. Thank you guys. I do have one last question. I have a hitzer 503. There is a vent just below the glass door. I think i read it is for top air. As i said i am new to hard coal. What does this vent do and how does top air work
