Hi All,
I'm new here, a first time poster, so please bear with me.
I have Hitzer 50-93 (rated at 93K BTU's) and have been firing it for nearly 25 years here in central PA. I'm getting tired of shaking the ash grates and found a used Alaska Kast Cionsole 2 in good condition. My stove thermometer reads a surface temperature, when heating up, of about 550 degrees F and levels out at about 400 degrees F.
Now....my question (and the local Alaska dealer has no answer): how hot will (or can) the surface temperature of the Kast Console 2 get? I figure this will tell me if the Alaska stove will adequately replace my Hitzer. Any thoughts on this are greatly appreciated.

Although I have the same stove, I can't tell you how hot it will get at full stoke but mine heats my whole house (2000 sq ft) with 2nd floor on less than the #2 setting. Mostly 1 1.5.

The grates are only so big and can burn what's on the grate, so it can't go above a certain temp even at full burn. they are designed to max. output. Seeing 400-550 deg on the outside is common. I've seen 500-550 on both my LL and Keystoker at full burn.
