I've seen a few of these units for short money on craigslist. Are they straightforward to refurbish? I assume parts are readily available.

I have a Coal Chubby installed in my fire place right now. Seems like the stoker would be easier to dial in. Also less grief for my wife to deal with when I'm away.

Thanks

They are a pretty simple design and easy to work on.

The most expensive parts are the motors and the grate. If the grate is not cracked and the motors are quiet I would make an offer.

If it's a paddle feed that is the newer version as the older units were carpet feed, I would look for a paddle feed, they are very reliable and easy to operate and repair, parts are available in Blomsburg pa.

With any used unit expect to put grate and door gaskets in it but even a grate or motor ain't all that bad
