Not a stoker...
Hand fed...
Manual shake...
Needs an ash pan...
Take a pic of the red name plate...
And the grates without all the ash in the way...
Top and bottom from the load door and the ash door...
Is he capable of loading coal, shaking grates and dumping the ash every 12 hours?...

I haven’t actually been out to see it as it’s over an hour away from me, the guy bought the house and doesn’t want it so he put it up for sale. My dad splits 6 cords a year so he is capable of doing the work behind hand fed, actually prefers it so he can burn wood in the shoulder months. I’m trying to set him up to burn coal, because he is getting older and he’s started to run out of trees on his property after 35 years of using wood as his primary source of heat. I wasn’t sure if anybody had recognized this stove or not as I am fairly new to burning coal myself. I can ask the owner if he can send a picture of the nameplate on the stove, but he doesn’t really seem to know what he’s looking at.

If you are going for a drive...
https://smd.craigslist.org/for/d/coal-stove-hitze ... 12544.html
This is a better type and brand stove than an old style cabinet heater...
You have to take the lite-weight shell off to see how solid the cabinet stoves are...
Hitzer's are tanks...
Don't know what your price range is...

Attempting to keep it under 600 just to get him going. The one I have pictures of is $225. Just got a half of a cow today and Christmas is right around the corner, don’t want to put myself in a bind.

If the grates are good and it does not leak...
The price seems right...
Grates can be replaced...
Firebrick looks good from the limited photos...
Round fire box is most efficient and won't ash up like a square or rectangle box does...

Have the moderator merge and move this to the Hand fed stoves section...

I actually started a new post in the hand feds after your comment. I knew it wasn’t a stoker then I looked back at the post and it clicked. Thank you for your input. I’ll go look at it tomorrow. I won’t hand over money just by looking at pictures, coal was left in it from the previous owner so I’m already curious of how well maintained/preserved in the off seasons. Hopefully it’s in better shape than my dads stove, fire box is warped bad from overfires and the grate is burning out

Try to find the ash pan...
If not one can be made...
The lever on the right by the ash door...
will rotate the grates...
See if they will take $150...
no ash pan and the rust...
The inside of the fire box looks like it was lightly used...
and not mistreated...
Strip the shell and scuff pad it to remove rust...
Krylon hi-heat max spray paint and some Williams stove polish for the cast iron...

Tractor Supply had a 20% off deal this week, then they gave us another 20% off for I have no clue why and then knocked off another 100 dollars because it was the last one and in a shed out back, so my dad got a fully functional hotblast 1557m for 800 dollars new with one small dent in the side. Thank you for your input
