Hot Air Coal Stoker Furnace: Alaska Chantigue 3
Coal Size/Type: Rice

Post by the grove » Fri. Nov. 23, 2018 12:52 pm

I have a Alaskan Chantigue 3. I have a idle and t stat setting on my unit. The company who installed this told me I would need to play around with this and figure it out. I still do not understand how one affects the other. Can someone please help me understand this?

THANKS!

Do you have Coaltrol unit?
If not...
Idle heeps a minimum fire so it won't go out...2 adjustment...how often and for how long.

Thermostat is straight forward w/ wall thermostat setting.

There is not much to it and I think McGiever pretty well summed it up.

Alaska made a few different style controllers for their stoves. If yours is different than mine, it would help if you post a picture.

This is how I set up mine, and I only remember turning up the idle once or twice in the past few years, and that's when we had outside temperatures in the single digits for a few days in a row.

It is rare that my inside temperature varies more than a degree or two from the wall thermostat setting.

If the room temperature drops more than 2 degrees from your wall thermostat setting just turn the thermostat knob on your controller up a bit.

If the room temperature exceeds the wall thermostat setting by more than two degrees turn the thermostat knob on the controller down a bit.
