Alaska channing 3
Just tried starting my stove for the season. I get it going, burns great, but then the fire moves up the grate and I have about a 2 inch fire, but really just burning coal, no flame. I've posted pics. I think I really need to find someone to clean, change all gaskets and get it setup right again.

The first pic looks like plenty of combustion air, but it doesn't look like new coal is being fed onto the grates.
Is the coal in the hopper wet or dry? Is the same amount of ash being dumped into the pan as before?

The coal may be wet, but I've never had issues before. The motor for the paddle feed seems to be working, but does make a clicking sound. I swear I have replaced it recently. It is feeding coal but maybe not fast enough. One more pic of what happens before fire goes out. Does anyone know of anywhere I can have it taken apart and cleaned and serviced? I live in Dallas, Pa.

Have you tried removing the combustion fan assembly and vacuuming under the grate. It's very easy, just remove the bolt under the combustion assembly and remove the wires on the motor. Then give the motor a firm tug, the whole tray will slide out and there will be a hole where you can access underneath the grate.

also, check to make sure it's moving the coal from the paddle or pusher. if no ash is falling off, then the stoker assembly is not working correctly or somethign is jammed in it. something is either blocking it or somethign is loose.
do you have a thermostat or how do you control the feed rate?

I had a problem like that when my channing 3 was first installed. Fire would climb up towards the hopper and go out. The installer came back and got it working properly. When I asked what was wrong he asked if the stove had been moved at all because the draft was off. I guess it was not set right the first time because the stove had not been moved. Good luck!
