Does anyone have and tips or tricks to break a cement bond in a stove? I just acquired a Harman Magnum and the one-piece grate is cemented to the base, especially in the back. Is there a chemical or other way that I can free this piece off?

Tap the cement with a prick punch or chisel and hammer, it should come apart fairly easy. TAP! Not pound. Take your time and it will give up.

I know of no chemicals that will react with it. Heat will kill it but you need to get it to about 1500°. Not sure if you want to go that route.

My experience with the Rutland cement is, if you act like you want it to stay on,... after a few heat cycles it falls off.
Seriously thou, if it won't chip and come loose by gently tapping it with a pointed tool as mentioned above, then masonary grinding discs will remove it - if you can reach it with a disc grinder or Dermal tool.

I can't even get back in there because the head of the grinder hits the back wall and the blade isn't far enough forward to go into the joint. I'm wondering if its even cement or did someone come up with a foolproof way of bonding.
