I tried to update my timer and messed up the wiring. The Mercurio switch exploded due to the miss wiring. I know need to put the old timer back on so my stove doesn’t quit. I have black wire to 1, 2 to white, 4 to red. The timer isn’t moving. Does anyone know how to wire this up correctly? Ty Dan

It sounds like you have it right. 1 should be hot (black), 2 should be neutral (white). If you have 120 volts AC on these terminals, the clock motor should run. If not, the clock motor is bad.

If you verified that you have 120 volts across terminals 1 and 2, and you know for a fact that the motor is not running, you did test it.
I guess the question is, how did you verify that it is not running?

So, this "New" one that you are talking about is an S400 A, or something else?
I ask because I doubt that anything made in the last 40 years has a Mercury switch in it.

You could just swap the old Mercury switch over to the new S400.

That’s my thought. The new timer should be more accurate. When I first hooked up the new timer I thought I did it incorrectly because it was spinning around. Now that I think about it the timer was most likely calibrating. When I changed the wires I probably made my mistake and blew up the mercury switch.
