Keystoker problem

I have a keystoker 90 stoker stove that I came across used. Previous owner said it worked great but just didn’t compare heat wise to wood so they went back to wood. I replaced the feed motor, cleaned under the grates and sealed them back down, and replaced the fan limit switch. Everything seems to operate the way it should... now for the problem: although everything seems to work right it doesn’t seem to feed enough coal, when I get it started with a few handfuls it burns awesome but when I let the stove take over it’s like it can’t keep up.. it almost seems like the coal just builds up (height wise) rather that pushing ahead. I’ve polished the grates with scotch brite and checked the nylon cam to see if it was partially melted.. this is also with the feed motor running continuous. Does anyone know how thick the coal should be on the grates? It also looks to me like someone has bent the metal plate in the back that would control how high the coal would be coming into the grate.

I operate a K 90 and I would request some photos with the stove running. That would help us a lot.

I got frustrated and shut her down until tomorrow. Could you tell me how thick the coal is on your grate and maybe how tall the opening at the back of the grates is? This would be a huge help

Tough to do unless the stove is off. I strongly suspect a pic will reveal much to us. One pic with no coal and when alight with build up happening.

You can see the shiny spot there where someone messed that plate, I’m trying to find out if there’s an additional piece that mounts to the and maybe they were trying to beat or bend that down to make up for it? I’m going in totally blind here I understand the mechanics of the stove no problem but I’ve never seen one run so I don’t even know the basics like how much should be on the grate at all times, I have the manual and it doesn’t really tell you these things

Shouldn't that plate be full of holes?

The 'carpet' needs to lay perfectly flat with no gaps between it and the stoker bed.
All coal rides on the top of the 'carpet'. 'Carpet' will be polished by coal always riding across the top side.

What do you mean by “Carpet”?

Part in your picture that moves back and forth.

Nothing in the photo moves, that plate is a fixed piece that the coal comes in underneath of

R you are correct none of those pieces move. The ear piece does not look right. Run the stove up to 10 and let the coal move across the stoker bed. Once the coal starts to fall off the end send a pic. I guessing here but I think someone has messed up the feeding mechanism.

The pusher, feed motor, cam, etc is all new and in good shape and operational. I’m just trying to figure out how high the opening under that plate (where you can see it’s been messed with) is supposed to be, and how high, deep, thick, however you want to word it that the coal bed should be on the grates as it’s burning. I think this plate has been bent downward and is affecting the way the coal is feeding. I’m gonna run coal out without restarting it and send pic

That plate in the raer of the feed mechanism is 2 and 3/4 inches from the grate and basically sticks straight out. The coal runs pretty deep down the grate, from unburned coal, to burning coal and finally to ash towards the end. The ash runs alittle higher than the burning and unburned coal.
