Reading Susquehanna Wiring

Hi all! I recently picked up a Reading Susquehanna furnace for the garage and I was wondering if somebody can shed some light on how all these plugs hooked up? The main blower fan just plugs into the outlet and is controlled by the internal thermostat, but now I am left with two plugs, two for the feed and two for the grate blowers, but there is only two receptacles on the regulator box on the side of the furnace. Any advice is appreciated.

Per the attached manual, it depends on whether you are running it manually or with a thermostat set up. For normal operation it looks like the combustion blowers just plug into a wall socket and the stoker motors plug into the control box

So the combustion blowers run nonstop then? That seems odd.

It's not unheard of... Some Keystoker models run the combustion fan full time. See page 10 of your manual. The feed rate controls the heat output of the Susquehanna.

Keystoker, (who BTW now owns and sells Reading Stoves) has devised a way to run reduced comb. fan speed for idle and then will jump up to full speed for during a heat call...they do it with a relay and a big resistor.
Can see example in manual of this used in Keystoker model 90's and a couple others.

Yes, my KAA-4 has that big rheostat. Others with older KAA-2's have reported their fans run 100% full time and say it works well.

No doubt 100% full comb. fan speed works well. Just need to adjust idle coal feed amount to match the fixed air feed amount.
A higher 100% full fixed air feed amount would require that the idle coal feed be a higher adjustment to match it.
So, where idle air is controlled and reduced one must also then reduce with less coal feed to match it.
Simple 100% fan speed works fine, just uses a wee bit more coal doing it, is all.
Hopefully that wee bit of more coal is put to good use and not just sent up and out the chimney. ;)

Ok, so I got the furnace hooked up finally and fired it up. The combustion fans run constantly, and the feed runs with the timer/ thermostat. The house blower fan started running when the furnace reached the proper temperature and wont shut off now (and the house is about 85 degrees now lol) so what is the purpose of the thermostat if it wont shut off the house blower fan? am i doing something wrong? Also, the furnace burned about 120 pounds of coal (3 bags or so) over night, maybe a 12 hr period, and it wasnt that cold out. is this normal?

Running House blower does not heat houses to 85* and burn 120 lbs. of coal.

Running Continuous combustion blower alone does not heat house to 85* and burn 120 lbs. of coal.

Continuous coal feeder/pusher motor...now, that will do it, along with the first 2 above running also.

Your feeder/pusher motor needs controlled by thermostat and then those other 2 blowers will follow to hold house's temperature to set-point and use a lot less coal.

How many 120 volt cord/plugs are on the back of your Reading Stove?

This is where having separate motors for feeder/pusher and combustion fan comes in...cannot have single motor for both and run that continuous, as you have discovered.
Between the Idle Timer and the Thermostat, they both run that single motor as built by Reading.

Some Reading stove owners have later added a independent combustion blower and that is where/when continuous running it could happen.
