I installed an Alaskan stoker stove in my basement and installed floor registers in the first and second floors.(three in the downstairs floor and three in the second floor) Someone told me the upper floors will stay cold unless I install a duct from my basement to the second floor or open a window on the second floor. Any help or suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

The best way is to create a loop. make or install a duct from the upstairs down to the basement.. If possible have the duct end right at the inlet to the heat distribution fan on the stove.. This is how a hot air furnace works.. it has hot air duct and cold air returns.. without the cold air returns the hot air is on a one-way street,, the air needs a way to get back to the stove to complete the loop..

Hope this makes sense.. Greg L
