i found a af-150 that needs a heat exchanger.
has anyone here bought one or priced one from efm?
just wondering how much they cost.....might not be worth it. person is asking 800 for the efm. it has the wil-burt timer.....my old one never had a timer, i had to get my own.

Never heard or saw the pricing for one. Just call your favorite EFM dealer and ask.

If the stoker is in good shape (check the burn plates and auger), and everything else comes with the unit, it could be a good buy. $800 does not buy much in the EFM world, and the hot air units are hard to find.

The cost of a new heat exchanger is way too much for your budget. You can buy two boilers for what they want for one. As for paying top dollar for a used stoker without a boiler or furnace,,,,,,,,,

For those of us without the EFM price sheet, what is the list price of the heat exchanger?

If he is dead set on a hot air unit, I don't see a reason to dismiss a used AF150 without seeing what kind of shape the rest is in, or what they would take for it. Could have been shut down after a few years use and left to rot with a like new stoker sitting in it...or maybe no one else has called and they just want it moved.

i'm open to a boiler or a furnace. heck i'm not needy at all, i got four coal stoker stoves at the moment lol.....i was going to lend my cousin one (mystery stove) but he has 2 tons of stove coal. unless he is gonna make his own rice coal it will do him no good lol. found him an old warm morning so he can use the coal them next season switch to a stoker.

no way would i give 800 when i can get a boiler for slightly more. cash talks....some people bite, some don't.

I think a boiler makes a lot more sense also, but were asking about a furnace. :)

An EFM stoker boiler could heat your house, hot water, and your future shop.

it was a thought and a matter of curiousity, same stoker as the 520.....the plan with my old af-150 was to put the stoker into a boiler when the heat exchanger went.
someone needs to put up a efm stoker loop on youtube.......good sound to sleep to! click click click click click

I'm thinking that a new factory heat exchanger is $3000 plus if I remember correctly. I had a hot air furnace here and was going to make a heat exchanger myself but it was a big job. Bigger than my skills. I did have one made for a keystoker. They are a totally different design.

Ouch. I think that is even more than a new 520 pressure vessel.
