I'm thinking of getting 24 ton of rice coal from Superior. How is the size and consistency of their rice coal? Do you get alot of fines in a bulk load?
Thanks everyone for great forum.

It's the best coal available,, that is my opinion,, but backed by trying many other sources.. UAE is also very good, but has more fines..

Just to let you know,, I back my opinions with action... :) I brought home 5.5 tons on the Meet&Greet weekend,, and paid for 24tons while I was there at the breaker.. I'm now compleating the 'addtion' to my coal bin, and will be getting the 24 tons delivered in a few weeks.. So I am buying what I believe to be the best..

Budd have you called them because the breaker is shut down for a few weeks due to repairs you might not be able to buy a
Tri-Axel load for a few weeks yet I would call Lori or Roger

U235a4 There coal is and was always the correct standard Anthracite sizing barley is 3/16 to 3/32 Rice is 5/16 to 3/16
Buckwheat is 9/16 to 5/16 Pea is 13/16 to 9/16 Chestnut is 1 5/8 to 13/16 Stove is 2 7/16 to 1 5/8 As long as the coal is in between the two Number's it is the correct size for Anthracite coal If you look you will see that the big size & the smaller size of the scale will fall in to the next size so you will see big Buck being the same size has small Pea & big Pea
being the same size as small Nut & Big Nut Being the same size as small stove same goes for big barley being the same size as small Rice Here is a good chart to look at http://www.readinganthracite.com/mining_sizes.html

The pea size coal in the past was on the small side of the range of measurements..very close to buckwheat.. it now is near the middle of the measurment range.. UAE is still larger,, you can see it if you put a bucket of each next to each other for comparrison. But the difference is much less than in the past.

Superior is 9/16 to 13/16 Pea size There buck is 9/16 to 5/16 so there Pea will be more to 9/16 in size there buck is more to 9/16 in size the same as the Pea now the Pea in the past few weeks is
closer to 13/16 in size
UAE Pea is 13/16 to 9/16 there coal is more to 13/16 in size
Superior Nut is 13/16 to 1 5/8
UAE Nut is more to 1 5/8 in size

I went there on the thursday the day after they opened. I asked the man that was loading my truck how everyone was doing with the accident and it was terrible. The guy started telling me that it was his best friend and he got him the job and they were real close and he saw the whole thing. It was really sad. I felt so sorry for the guy. The rest of the people were real down also. Wish there was something to do to help them. :( :( Scott
