Adjustments on Koker When Using Coal Trol

couple of quick questions for the peanut gallery. i just ordered up a coal trol stat for my son's koker. when i set this thing up do i open up the shutter on the blower for the fire all the way open or leave as is [1/2 way now]. do you adjust feed screw all the way for max feed? thanks,

Shutter position does not change. Feed screw only needs to be adjusted if when you are at max feed and have too much or too little ash on the grate.

adjust feed to maximum without the fire going off the grate, then hook up the coal trol.

you'll be able to adjust max feed with the coaltrol. so, yes, adjust feed screw all the way in.

Also, Just make small adjustments, maybe a couple points at a time and let it settle out after and hour to two. Factory setup values from the book are usually pretty close, but can always be tweaked for max efficiency. when starting, it may fluctuate (overshoot) due to room settings and actual temp. make sure the setpoint is close to starting temp and then adjust once it gets going. only change a degree or two at a time and let it catch up. :)
