Hot Air Coal Stoker Stove: Alaska Hearth Model

Post by Macpack7 » Sun. Nov. 19, 2017 10:36 pm

I have a used Alaska Kast Console II and I found an Alaska manual online that states this:
Alaska Company recommends that you install your stove with a Barometric Damper. We also recommend a minimum draft of .04" of water column, although this stove may draft at lower measurements. It may not function properly, by following these requirements it will help regulate your draft in high wind conditions and allow your stove to burn more efficiently.

Does anyone have their damper set differently?

it'll fluctuate a bit depending on burn and how cold it is outside. Typically, -.04 is common for most stoves, it may run down to -.02 when idle and it's warm outside depending. Get a draft gauge to set it up properly, most of us have a draft gauge hooked up permanently to monitor your draft.

The Dwyer Mark II model 25 is a common manometer around here. Cheap, reliable and easy to install.
