Heating a 30x80' building. Put an 8" duct in the top of the stove and and ducting out about 50' in the ceiling. Long run... I can't afford a 105k btu double wall stove so this is my $150 attempt to make more of what I have. Comments?

Hmm, this motor (unlike it's replacement) is a ball bearing instead of a sleeve. Seems to be about as quiet as the original motor but with a lot more air. Cheap too. We shall see when I put it in the stove (new holes to drill). Perhaps I will measure it with a Sound Decibel Meter at say 1m and report. Or perhaps I will be to lazy.

Technically a new sleeve bearing is quieter than a ball bearing. My experience is the ball bearing fans draw far less current/watts. When I went from a hand fed to my Keystoker 90 I did everything I could to minimize noise. I also installed a ball bearing convection fan because of efficency. To minimize noise I ducted the input air from my block foundation.
Getting away from this post, sorry, ball bearing fans are the way to go, especially for efficency, and in this case increased flow. Keeping mind the stove has a fixed output of BTU's.

2001, thank your for your reply. As I have a long pipe run, I expect some back pressure so the overpowered fan will never actually produce 485 cfm. My application is now not ideal for this stove but being a miserable cheapskate, this is the cheapest compromise. I am learning from FF. I am determined to use less HO in this building. When you manage to buy a big load of super cheap coal, you stretch everything to the max. Love that black stuff. It will be an interesting winter. I am even boarding up some windows and if we don't get slammed, my HO there will be close to zero. :D
