We have been seeing 55 to 60 degree days for several days. As I bucket the rice to the hopper I come pretty close to 2 lb per DD. Still
at 4 teeth feed in the 520, with long burn runs. Ash is very light and light color. House is warm, wife is happy!!!

We have a rancher, the basement walls are block with walkout door, basement ceiling is somewhat insulated with somewhat dropped ceiling ( not all of the panels were put back).
DS 1500 stoves bi-metal thermostat set so I get 350* at the hottest spot on top.
Stove is at the far end of the basement in the large room with 3 other rooms and it heats all the rooms evenly, 75*
We keep the upstairs basement door open to try to get some heat upstairs. The temp stays the same no matter what the outside temp is. I don't mess with the bi-metal thermostat.
We use about 46 lb. nut coal a day

I tried to edit the lbs. of coal I posted and it made a new post.
I had two super sacks of coal, when I used up the first sack I came up with 46 lbs. per day figuring it was half of 2900lbs. The second sack must have more coal in it.
Now it's about 40 lb. and could be 38 lb. when second sack is empty.
I know combined weight only.
Why can't I edit the original post?

Also, I think the edit function is only available for 24 hours.

I burn about a 5 gallon bucket of coal in a 24 hour period. That is 30 to 40 pounds of blashak in my D&S 1500 in a 1950+ sq ft home. It is in the unfinished basement.
