Hi I am new to coal stokers I just bought a refurbished EFM DF520 and I am wondering about the ash deflector plate seem to me that a lot of ash would fall off and land on this plate and not hit the ash pan below.
I thought about making an angled ring that I could bolt to this plate and if the ash did not fall straight off the pot it would hit this ring and slide into the ash pan. Has anyone made one these and if so do you have any pictures.

I thought about doing that. Decided that If I just left it alone that the ash build up makes its own deflector and as long as you don't leave it over the off season, it wont hurt a flippin thing :D

I looked at that buildup too,
I run mine all year,so corrosion isn't an issue.
The ashes can be the ramp for the ashes to slide into the tub.
