I feel your pain. There is no one else in the world who is always happy to see you and never holds a grudge like your best friend that is a dog.

Tough thing to experience for sure. I always dread that part but after a little time passes I always go back and get another one too. That must say something about the joy they bring the other 10 - 12 years far outweighing the pain at the end.

wow thanks guys the hardest part of all this is the fact that ANN is in GEORGIA to take care of the grandson , she left FRI and I had to tell her, he was her baby, you looked at her wrong and you were in trouble, already looking for another one but I don't have her convinced, just so hard to let go, they are worse than a kid and I already raised 5 of them and set them out into the world

Its hard to let go but get another one! My wife said no at first its to hard, caught her crying about a week later and I then knew there was only one thing that was going to fix this we got another and it helps

There is one thing to keep in perspective, owning a pet never ends well but there's another one out there that needs a good home

Sorry to hear, Scrapper. Something all us pet owners have to go through, unfortunately ... but giving them a great life and keeping them healthy and happy is all worth it in the end. :)

My 20 lb. Maine Coon Buddy is now 13 lbs. Vet has no explanation for it. He'll be 13 this summer, so I think the countdown has begun. I'm just trying to make the best of the time I have with the little guy. He seems healthy and happy, so I'm not super worried at the moment, but the decline is noticeable when you pet him. He's all bones. :(

Scrapper/Steve,

I'm very sorry for your loss.

I too have a Mastiff, he's a little over eight years old. He has a strange habit of eating socks and came near death last year. The vet gave up and told us to bring him home to die. I actually took the next day off to be with him when he died. We went to his favorite dog park one last time and he actually crapped the damn sock out!

Mastiff's are a special breed of giant dog, they make you sleep well at night knowing you are loved and protected.
