Bigger Coal in a Stoker?

The nice thing about the Losch is you can adjust the height of the bed of coals with how hard or soft you adjust the bump.
Also it uses a oil burner motor that's easy to get. Some dealers tell customers that it's a special motor then charge 2 times the price.
The one I had, a dealer painted over the words, oil burner motor.

Coal Size/Type: Rice, Chestnut and whatever will fit through the door on the Harman
Other Heating: Noth'in but COAL! Well, Maybe a little tiny bit of wood

That is nice. I didn't know you could adjust the hight of the coal bed. On the Yellow Flame the coal bed hight is set by the feeder pieces, no adjustment.

Barley is readily available; burns great, and is cheaper right now. This might be a case when bigger isn't always better. Losch and Yellow Flames are the two best Barley machines......hint, hint.
Make a call and get Barley pricing. I'm am in the same mindset as Dave and don't like to see pea in a machine that is designed for rice. Controlling the fire could become an issue, and having 'The Much-I-Do Hose Company' over isn't a fun event........too much paperwork.
