All the following is not rocket science and a lot of you have likely done something like this while the stove is running. Did this today 1st time.

With the next week pretty cold and the stove needing a cleaning, thought was to make sure those Pocono exhaust pipes were pretty free of ash. Reduced the feed rate to 12, removed the ash pan and opened up the two doors and with the attached brush bent a bit near the brush, pushed it up into each of the two tubes and rotated it several times. My brush is 36" .

I must admit I wore a cheap medical mask so ash inhalation was minimal. Wimp me

This quickie cleaning does not take the place of a full clean including the full length of the exhaust pipes but it gives a little peace of mind that those tubes are not blocked until the next cleaning in a few days

Great idea, I like it and I will copy. I shut down my AnthraKing at 6AM and cleaned everything and now the stove is running much better. My Pocono lives on easy street (overkill for the job) but I am still going to do you temp cleanup. Mindless overkill is always a good starting point. They just seem to need it from time to time.
