Keystoker Set up

A Coal stoker furnace or stove controls most operations including automatically feeding the coal. They are quite similar to any conventional oil and gas units and easily operated for extended periods of time. They commonly use rice coal but may use larger sizes like buckwheat. They can be used as primary heat, supplementary heat or have a dual set up with your existing oil/gas furnace.

I just bought a keystoker (used) its a direct vent model, the vent exits at the base...Is it safe or advisable to run it straight up out a chimney? or do I need to cut a hole in my wall...

My home made boiler has the stack out at the bottom and
vents into a chimney. Don't see why yours wouldn't work.
Make sure you have a CO detector.

You should be able to remove the DV kit and hook it into your chimney. There might be some safety wiring associated with the DV kit - call Keystoker.

My KEYSTOKER boiler goes directly into chimney. Not sure of your set-up. I don't see any reason you couldn't do the same.

I think if your could consistently get a correct manometer reading then you should be ok. In a sense you would still be double drafting the stove. On my 90k I have my power vent exhaust turned to its lowest setting and I'm at -.02 venting into ambient. Good luck and please post your results. Todd.

If you have existing chimney with a good draft, you can remove the Direct Vent and run it directly into your chimney. You will need a Baro Damper if not using your Direct Vent to adjust the draft correctly on the stove. You should have a draft gauge that you can adjust it correctly.

Running the DV up and into chimney is also ok. as long you don't have any other appliances sharing the same chimney, the DV could pressurize it and back feed into the other holes and come out somewhere else. Just be careful!

My keystoker is running a pipe up and outside, I had an existing hole in the wall near the ceiling and it runs up and over and outside.
