Hello all,
I'm preparing to install a Pocono with a power vent in a 71" wide area.
If a power vent motor fails when I am not home but the Pocono keeps running, what happens? Will the gases present any kind of fire danger? Will the house fill with CO? Is there any kind of safety that cuts power to the Pocono?
It seems many people here use power vents. Am I missing anything basic regarding their use?
Thanks.

Or gets blocked or whatever. Hot air fails to be pulled out of the stove to the outside and the fume switch at the side which normally sucks in a little cooling air in normal operation heats up to 200F and the stove switches off. I will explain more when I see you.... the Pocono has a fume switch installed. It is essential that the power to the stove is routed through the fume switch. It's good the know you're thinking about safety that is the first thing a future coal burner needs to consider. . It's all part of the Dwyer manometer reading which you will need running at the correct vacuum say 0.01 to 0.05". More on this as we move along or search this board for many posts on this matter. Coalnewbie had a great explanation. The fume switch also protects if the pipe were to fail as well. This is why I prefer the PV method of artificial draft vs direct vent. With a PV all pipes leading outside are under negative pressure. With a direct vent all pipes after the vent are positive pressure and no reliable way of monitoring the system between the DV and the outside.toolmaker wrote:Hello all,

So at last after many false profiles we get to look at the real sting. Cold cream helps and lose the hood it's bad PR these days.

Like Coalnewbie said Stoker stoves are equipped with a fume switch will cut the power to the stoker if the venting on the unit or flue pipe needs to be cleaned or fails. The Fume switch will cut the power to the stove.
Disregard this post. I was reading the forum replies backwards and I see this was already address....
