1.Ash pit and face plate with shaker.
2. First spacer attached, tightening up the fit of the grate
3. Second spacer in place.
4. 6' 2" of me by unit for scale.
5. Casting of the Shaker foot bracket fit to casting of face plate.(Oh! That's how it goes.)
6. Black iron pipe with washer passing through cleat on shaker arm and back into grate attachment.
7. View through the ash pit door flap.

No fire chamber in place yet. I have to precisely locate the chimney through the roof and rafters so I know where the elbow will attach to the smoke discharge before final assembly.

I saw mention of the five gallon bucket of stove cement I'll need for that assembly in an earlier post. I queried RUTLAND with my specs and got back a generic response;

"We recommend our Rutland Furnace Cement to seal metal to metal joints less than 1/8”.
Our furnace cement has a temperature rating of 2000°F, and it does require a heat cure. Thanks."

These joints are less than an 1/8" but the fill around them is 1/4" on each side. The cement I removed on cleanup was slavered in like a rough mortar joint. Any leads on the product I should use?
Thanks

I just picked up a 250a yessterday, glad to see Im not the only one going to put one of these back into use. grate is excellent the loading door handle snapped off on me and the bracket for the shaker handle pivot. gonna take those to a weld shop to get them put back together. other than some wire wheeling and some furnace cement should be good to go. These furnaces where used for bit correct? I am in western pa and have access to it, also going to pick up a warm morning 526 friday which I can find no info on
