Pusher Motor - Harmon Magnum Going Bad

A Coal stoker furnace or stove controls most operations including automatically feeding the coal. They are quite similar to any conventional oil and gas units and easily operated for extended periods of time. They commonly use rice coal but may use larger sizes like buckwheat. They can be used as primary heat, supplementary heat or have a dual set up with your existing oil/gas furnace.

Hi Folks!

You have been very helpful in the past and I thank you!

My Harman Magnum feed blocked up again...and once I remembered to take off the indicator thing :oops:I got the block out.

At first, the pusher motor did not go at all, then with some grinding noise it started and seems to be running. BUT it is making a lot of noise. I would think it should be pretty quiet sitting on the basement floor running.

I thought I had seen where some people had replaced theirs. But I searched on the site and couldn't find the info.

If anyone has replaced their motor, could you please let me know where you got it and the model/part number so I can get one?
There does not seem to be a place to lubricate the motor it's self. I do oil the big bearings, but not the actual motor.

Thanks in advance for you time.

Thanks RayJay!
A search didn't find anything, so I sent them a note.
Probably have one that matches just not listed under Harman.

I've replaced mine several times. Always starts with the noise you're referring to. It's the bearings going bad. After replacing the last one that was only 2 years old, I removed the cover housing it since I suspected it was over heating. I also rigged up one of those small personal fans to continuously cool it and haven't had a problem since. I highly recommend removing the cover to allow it to get air. The motor is a Dayton model # 6Z075. Best price I've found is at http://www.electricmotorwarehouse.com/bison_gearm ... s_115v.htm. Just Google Dayton 6Z075 and you'll have several places to choose from.

I took the cover off of mine a couple years ago. I did try a fan first but it was blowing fines all over the place so I nexed it. It does stay much cooler with the cover off. Luckily mine is 10 years old. I've got a spare on the shelf.

My first time uploading pics here so we'll give it a try. I haven't had a problem with fines, maybe because mine is blowing up.

You're pointing to model # 2H604 for $420.38. My Harman takes a 6Z075 which goes for $268.41 on the same site at http://www.electricmotorwarehouse.com/bison_gearm ... s_115v.htm.

Has anyone tried a motor shop for a rebuild? It looks like parts are available.
