Looks good John, when does it get the color?

Scott this style Alaska does not have the cast pieces on top like your Kast Konsole does. :)

What color? Only the doors, they will be blue. I have to make it look presentable, next to the new oil burner that never runs. :D

I agree, Chevy orange might be too much.

It's starting to go back together, not as fast as Flyer's, though.

I use a 7" angle polisher/grinder I bought at Harbor Freight for $16, installed a heavy 4" wire wheel on the arbor, that thing eats rust and ash deposits for breakfast! The 4" size allows the wheel to leave less uncleaned spots in the corners. I also use a needle scaler I bought at Harbor Freight for $49, that thing works great to knock the scale off the cast pieces. That set up has been used on 3 stoves now (can't sand blast in this weather :( ) and has plenty of life left in it.

The duplicolor silver 1200* ceramic paint makes a great undercoat and paint for the back of the stove. I even paint the inside that way the stove doesn't rust in the off season. Then use the black of the same brand to paint the outside, is only $5.87 a can and one can of each will do a small stove, larger stoves may take two of each color.

Have fun and keep cleaning up the old stoves, they will live forever! :P

Getting closer to finished...I just have to paint & install the hopper and finish the doors...and it's done.
As soon as the stove pipe is installed it will be time to fire it up!

It will be finished today. I can't connect the stove pipes yet, the BUILDING INSPECTOR will be here on Wednesday to inspect the new oil burner (*censored*). I'm going to throw a drop cloth over the Alaska, as well as pile some stuff on top of it and around it. Maybe he will think it's a piece of furniture or something!
I hate having the building inspector snooping around here.

Thank you very much. I like your idea, by the way. I don't have any Dumont equipment around here, only some vacuum tubes.
I lied, it won't be done today, I ran out of gasket rope for the top door.
It looks kind of shocking, now, though. I painted the doors Chevy engine orange!

So with an orange door, and I assume a black stove body?? Are you going to call it the 'Halloween Special' ? :D

Yes, it does resemble Halloween. I had 3 part cans of Chevy orange. I could always repaint them later. It is kind of odd, but what the hell. It is finished except for the door glass, I cemented in the gasket, needs to dry first. I expect to have it fired up next weekend, after the Building Inspector's visit.
