I have a Leisure Line Pioneer 90,000 BTU stoker and It doesn't seem like I am getting as much heat from it as I should be. Does anyone have any suggestions? Does anyone know someone who would come to our house and look at it? I bought it used and am wondering if maybe something needs to be tweaked in the settings? Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Uhhhhh larksville in what state?

1) when was the last time the interior firebox was cleaned ? An ash deposit other than a thin film will act as insulation on any stoker.

2) Inspect all two fans, combustion and convection, are the air intake screens (if apparent from the OEM) filled with dust? Inspect their squirrel cage interiors, are the fins on the wheel filled with dust?

3) when was the last time the plenum under the grate was cleaned? If full of coal dust you may not be getting get air to the coal. Always ensure the white gasket is in it's proper location when you put the grate back in.

4) unlikely...did you buy junk coal recently ?

Does it have Coal -Trol thermostat? When was the last time it was serviced?

The Pioneer is a very powerful coal stove. Any stove operates at it's best when clean and you should brush and scrape the inside of the stove every few weeks, even when its burning. Air transfers heat best when moving, you need convection currents to move the heated air around the home. Also, the coal-trol is somewhat more important than the stove itself, meaning that the proper settings on the digital thermostat control the operation of the stove and can make it run more efficiently depending on the settings. The settings programmed into the coal-trol from the previous owner may not be what's best for your home.

Is the stove vented in to a chimney, or is it power vented? Any idea what draft setting is? Are you set up with a draft regulator? Could you be sending the heat up or out the flue? Helps coming we just need to hit on the right questions to find the right answer. Hang in there.

I'm looking for someone to service a leisure line stove. In Larksville Pa. The stove has a coal-trol on it. The stove is not getting up to temp with the thermostat. The also keeps trying to go out. With the fire burning all the way in the back. Almost up in the hopper.

Ok, until Flyer shows back up in here. Here is some questions, that if you could answer, could help everybody help you. I am guessing from your first post after joining that you have a power vent??

Is the power vent working?
Do you have a Baro?
Do you know what the draft is?
Is the coaltrol set above the room temperature?
Do you know what the MIN and MAX on the coaltrol is set at?
Is the coal feeding into the stove (just not burning) or is it all ash except where the fire is?
Are all your fans working (coaltrol hooked up correct?)
Do you have any moisture in the hopper?
Has this been the same problem for the last two weeks?
How much coal are you using?
Is there unburnt coal in the ash pan?
DO YOU HAVE CO DETECTORS??

I know this sounds like a lot of questions, but with some answers to these, I bet this can be handled quickly. Don't give up, this is a fine stove that even I can make heat with. You can do alot of this yourself with the help you get here on the forums.

The grate was removed and the gasket not re installed or replaced on the back of the grate, Again look at the tips and tricks section in our area. I have a link on a earlier post. We have Stolz stove in Bloomsburg that does service in that area. I am off tomorrow but I will be in on Wed, but Matt will be here if you have questions. Thanks , Dave
