Hi all you coal burners. Thank you in advance. Pictures to come once I get my son to post them for me.

It seems from the "Pictures of your Stove" thread black stove pipe is OK for exhaust into a power or direct vent or a chimney. Is this true? And is 24 gauge OK?

So I have a 8 inch top vent stoker and a 4 inch Field Controls power vent. Can I run the pipe up to the ceiling of my basement with a 8 inch to 4 inch black pipe reducer with a barometric damper on the vertical pipe and then a 90 degree elbow to run out to the power vent. All this would be black pipe and 4 inches inches diameter. The horizontal run would be about 6 to 8 feet.

At the wall I would of course install the power vent.

Would I need a special fire proof insulation along the black pipe to avoid it getting too hot on the ceiling?

Would a T be good to install right by the stoker as a clean out? Or on that horizontal run?

I also am going to install a thermosiphon DHW coil like in the knowledge base to so I may have questions about that soon.

Any suggestions or threads anyone wants to recommend would be great. I think I'm over analyzing and over researching this project because I want to do it right the first time.

Thanks again
