You know this isn't uncommon, a little extreme maybe? I agree it's not my problem but I won't walk way. What gets me is that someone did one hell of a job with the plumbing inside of the home and everything wrong with the coal burning end of it. This is what frustrates people on burning coal and gives the coal business a bad name...... And he will hear it all when we finally meet in about a week. It will be a long conversation but I do feel he wants soneone to do it right. I will let you know how it all goes....Stay tuned.

I agree. I have a sneaking suspision this is going to turn out pretty good in the end.(I hope I didn't jinx you ) He probably didn't know who to turn to on the stoker side. Judging by the set-up in the cellar.

I was able to finish up on this job today. Replaced the grates, coal pipe, auger, degreased the entire stoker unit, added a timer. I had other suggestion but he said that was good enough for now. Got it up and running just in time before the rain started filling the boiler room. Here are some pics.

Maybe you should have left it greasy by the looks of that room. Mabe slather everything else too.

...looks like it cleaned up real well! Ready for another 30 years with only minor repairs. Pot bushing must have been in GREAT shape! Auger and tubes....timer, and she's good to go. Nice work, young man!

Thanks for the compliments. Definitely an interesting day It's obvious there is more issues here (water?) and we talked about them. He said thats good for now, lets see how it works. I'll let you guys know if anything comes up.

I did replace the gooseneck bushing and drive pawl. The brass feed control spacer is worn and the thumb screw is bent. Didn't have one on me, I'll get back to that.
