I have already intro myself in the intro site and now have a question. I look on the Hitzer web site and and after calling a dealer in Vermont, he said the 82 furnace model has come out with a stoker and will be in the 160,000 BTU range. Has anybody heard anything about this? If its true then I will most likely go this route to heat my house with. Thank you for any input.

I have not seen or heard of a 160K stoker, but if they are watching Matt and Dave, anything is possible. The 608 is a 5 to 90K rig available now, but if you know more about a bigger unit, please share.

Sounds interesting, but the last time I checked the Model 82 was strictly a hand-fired machine. I know where there are two of the radiant-only models for sale if you are interested...one just outside of Plattsburgh and one in Alburg.

160,000 BTU's hr is a fair amount...probably three times what your current pellet stove puts out.

They did come just come out with one the first part of December. Check the news section on the website. Model:710 Energy Master II.

you are confusing two different stoves. The 82 is not a stoker stove. It is a hand fired stove for wood or coal. As far as I know, Hitzer is bringing out a larger furnance, but I don't believe it has passed UL approval yet. It might be better to call Hitzer and get info from the source.

I will call them up and see, they may be coming out with a different model altogether but I will not speculate until I have the facts or somebody else does. I have the napoleon nps45 pellet stove and its doing okay heating the house but I know coal puts out way more Btu's. I want a coal furnace in the basement hooked to the existing duct work, either hand or stoker is fine with me I'm not picky when it comes to heating the house.

Yes on the BTU rating of the pellet stove. It sucks because you do a lot of cleaning on this unit or a least I do, a neat freak I am.

Wow, that might be the one its not on there web site yet so yeah I will give them a call and see what new ones they have or coming out with in the near future. Thanks

Have you looked at the LeisureLine 110 K anthraking?? or is that too small? what is your BTU load?

Many, forum members, probably the majority of central heat coal burners use a boiler instead of a furnace. The boiler utilizes a water to air heat exchanger installed in the ductwork of the furnace, and this heats the air.
A boiler can supply unlimited or almost unlimited domestic hot water, a furnace can use a dhw loop, but it is not a high volume DHW heater.

And, what happens when the T'stat has called for heat, the stoker fire has increased in size, burning more coal, and then the T'stat is satisfied?? with a gas or oil furnace the flame shuts off, and you have no over-run of heat. But with a coal stoker, the fuel is still burning, not as vigorously, since the comustion fan has shut down, but there is considerable coal still burning on the grate, and this heat has to go somewhere, with a furnace some goes into the ductwork, but most gets wasted, it's pulled up the chimney..
But with a coal boiler, this heat is absorbed by the water jacket, and most is available for the next call for heat, so the boiler is a more effecient heating device.

I will take a look at a boiler and see whats what. The house I have is 1920 3 floors including the basement and have a big attic too about 3000 sq ft. of total space. Have air ducts going to all floors except the attic and the return ducts are on first floor only.

Dealer near me had one & it was gone before I got to see it, he said it was 155k/btu that would tie right into duct work. He's Amish so he didn't know all that much about it except the guy that was with the man that bought it said he wants the next one so I guess they were impressed.
