Stoker Coal Boiler: AHS S260 Boiler

Post by watkinsdr » Fri. Nov. 25, 2011 8:05 pm

I concur. I recommend either an EFM DF-520; or, an AHS/AA S260 if you plan on heating a large home and providing DHW for a family. Plus the EFM and AHS/AA have augers to load coal automatically. When heating a large home, you'll quickly get tired of slinging coal by hand...

I will be a new coal burner soon. I recently purchased a refurbished EFM 520 Highboy, from member Pacowy (Mike) and he has helped me immensely with all my questions (too many to count). I would highly recommend Mike to anyone who is looking for a coal stoker system because he is there even after the sale, to help and make sure everything is right. Whistlenut also gave me a lot of professional insight on my project and will be installing my system soon. Still burning oil for now but soon coal only!!!

Steve, I installed a Highboy in my Dad's home. They are a very nice boiler, and well suited for domestic hot water production with a tankless coil. Let us know when you have it fired up.

I wanted to give you a suggestion on where to buy coal. I have been getting my coal from Northeast Coal in Pelham NH for about 25 years. Romeo is a great guy and reasonable, with top quality coal.

Check out Complete Heat in Nashua. I bought my Keystoker from them a few years ago. They were very helpful.

Good luck.

Thanks again for all the suggestions and help. In addition to the post, many of you sent me PM's & emails that were very helpful. After much research and many converstaions, I have decided to go with the Leisure Line 220. Hopefully it'll be up and running before the 1st of the year!

Can't wait to finally have a warm house and no propane bills!

The LL220 looks like a nice unit. Feel free to PM if you have piping questions.
