Good Evening:

I am in the market for a another coal stove. I ran across a used an 01 Harman Magnum for asking price of $1200.00. I posted about this in Stoker section of this forum

Used Harman Magnum Feedback

In the past, I have seen the LL econo stoves for sale new at a reasonable price.

The questions I have are:
What are the big differences between the used Harman and the new LL?
What are LL Econo's now selling for?

Thanks for any information

Mark

Hi Mark,
A new Econo goes for about $1650.00. An Econo is only 70,000 BTU's at input. Most Harmans were about 85,000 BTU's at output. I think most people on this site will tell you that it's a great deal at $1200.00. Just make sure that the black box is in good working order. It's about a $400.00 replacement part.
Thanks for asking,
Jerry LLS

Mark,

Don't put too much stock in the BTU difference in these two stoves, one probably can't do what the other can't duplicate.

There is one BIG difference..CUSTMER SERVICE! You can talk to Jerry here or on the phone, no problem.

But just try to call Harman and see what you get, they make you go to a dealer for everything, and they don't support their dealers well at all.

We lost our local Harman dealer and some buyers are having problems getting parts.

My two Cents

Thanks for all your help. I actually got the Harman for $1000.00. It runs great.
I have heard lots of negative about Harman in the past and my pellet stove dealer ended up dropping them because of their "change in business model" a few years back. I guess I caved to the great price.

Thanks again for all your help and I am sure I will be posting in the future.

Mark
