Well fella's, I went to my notebook and counted how many bags of blaschek went up the chimeney so far. The tally is 149 bags of coal with a full hopper, which comes out to 40# shy of 3 tons. So from October 21 to present that averages to approximately 2 bags a day, which is very good considering that is heat and domestic hot water. The house is 2 stories with aproximately 600 sq ft per level, with a zone in the basement set at 70 degrees. The boiler is in a detached garage cellar with a cast iron radiator on the return for minimal heat so the pipes will not freeze. I'm very happy with this arrangement. Dan

I've burned 2.5 tons of pea coal to date. It has been a mild winter in Maryland but the hot water coil is working overtime. I usually burn around 5 tons so I'm on track for that unless the temperatures fall as expected.

1.6 tons since I lit my first match on 31 Oct. As a result of the very warm fall I had shut down the stove here and there all the while keeping the oil burner OFF. Now am a proud member of the one (box of matches) club, but am nice and warm. Heating approx 2400 sqft - two stories with my Hitzer 983 insert - nice :)

I have 15 (40lb) bags of Blaschak left from my 2nd ton. We started on 10/29/11 heating my 1500sq. foot townhouse at 68 degrees. I found bagged rice coal in Lancaster PA that burns longer than Blaschak and only $249 per ton. This 3rd ton I will be getting next month should last until the end of winter.

About 1.75 tons since October. Been keeping 2200 sq ft at ground level + 2000 sq ft of basement at 70 - 73 degrees. Hope the warm weather holds so I don't have to reorder, I have less than 1 ton left.

Don't count on it. We are halfway through the heating season, and the first half has been mild.

This sure is a mild winter! I just topped off the boiler, and I've only burned a measured 1,374 lbs of coal so far this month. There have only been 845 'degree days' total for January (to date) where I live. There should have been roughly 1,050 degree days to this juncture if this was a normal January. That means this month has been about 20% milder than a normal January around here.

I have burned about 3500 lbs so far, heating a 2400 sq ft house with 3 floors, heating the basement where it is installed as well. Using a Keystoker a150. We've had some brutally cold days but Im sure there is more to come.

That poor EFM is going to spend the rest of its life idling on the timer.

I did the math tonight...7500 lbs since October. 8 tons should do the job this year.

A smidgen less than 4,800 lbs. burned from October 14th through today.

Heating 2,520 sq-ft plus DHW.
About 6,150 "degree days" here (in a normal winter, not this one).
