Coaljack C.O. Detector

Does any know where to purchase a C.O. detector that shuts down the boiler like the one on the coaljack?

I don't think they are available due to liability concerns. A manufacturer can get certification for a specific conditions or items, however if the 'happy homeowner' installs it, the company that sold it could be liable if anything ever happened.
This would not be like someone who never replaced smoke detector batteries, and a home and those inside were lost.

I'm sure you can buy the relay's and controls and wire it yourself, but at your own risk. In our 'sue happy' world, no one wants the hassle.
Having said that, I think it is a VERY GOOD idea to have on any type of heating equipment. Safety first!

We asked about that in one of the CoalJack Threads about them being separately available.

I think there are units available (systems) that can do that. Do a Search on them. I know they use them for RV's and Boats to shut down the generators on CO detection....

On some detectors, you can add a RELAY module and have it wired to a junction box you would plug your stove into or something...so it would shut it down on CO detection.

i just got the ok from my ins carrier to sell these seperatly 300.00 plus shiping all wired ready to plug in to wall outlet then plug you appliance into the outlet on the device

o yes a manual reset is on the relay you have to physically push in the button with your finger or whatever other appendage you can reach it with jim

I'm glad this subject is getting much needed attention and discussion.

I've always been interested in Rate-of-rise Heat Detectors which trigger when the temperature rises quickly, say 10 to 15 degrees per minute.

These sort of things, like the c.o. detector on the coaljack, should be standard equipment on a furnace or boiler.

I decided to build a fire suppression system since I have most of the parts on hand. I plan to put a sprinkler head above the hopper and connect it to a pressurized water tank with a 5 gallon draw down. when the tank is empty the water will stop. This won`t cost me anything and is very simple to build. Anyone see any drawbacks or have creative input???????

I like the idea of this CO detector that will disconnect a 120 volt load but $300.00 seems alittle steep. Anyone know of another unit that will do the same?
