Does the Harman DVC-500 require a baro-dampener?
I would be coming out of the back of the stove with a 90 degree elbow, up the wall 6 feet and then another elbow through a cement wall. This is a furnished basement install. Thinking about replacing my inefficent gas log fire place with something like the Harman direct vent. Thanks

I think most Direct vent stoves do NOT require a baro damper, they have the exhaust blower to keep a constant draft on the stove in all weather conditions. It normally maintains constant draft.

The baro damper is for variable draft conditions caused by wind and temperature, usually hooked to a standard chimney and can pull more draft on the stove and make it burn more if very windy. It opens/closes to allow more/less draft on the stove to keep it more constant draw thru the stove and better more controlled burning.
